Telecom Shelter

About 10 to 20 years ago, Nextel installed telecom shelters on various rooftops. It is our job to take them all down within the Tri-State area.

They are like mini offices and have air conditioning, heat, tile floors, drop ceilings and electric. They were used to keep equipment safe and climate controlled. They were secured using a coded entry lock.

Each unit weighs about 22,000 lbs. The unit pictured is one that we rigged in Elmhurst, NY and put it onto a low boy trailer so that we could bring it back to our warehouse to store for our client.

Our work allows us to see many interesting things, like a Lamborgini being rigged to a rooftop. If you missed that one, read about it here.
